Children’s Programs
Slower Pace of Life
At the Equellness Center, we believe children thrive when life slows down. In a world that often asks them to do more and move faster, our programs offer a place of refuge—where children can listen to their bodies, connect with others, and feel safe being themselves.
Our Approach
Through horsemanship, riding, and outdoor exploration, we strengthen mental fitness by weaving essential life skills into every experience.
What is Mental Fitness?
Mental fitness, as it applies to Equine Assisted Services for children, is the ability to notice what is happening inside the body, understand emotions as they arise, and respond with awareness rather than reaction.
Horses naturally respond to a child’s energy, focus, and emotional state, offering immediate, honest feedback that helps children practice regulation, empathy, communication, and belief in self in real time.
Self Regulation
Children learn to notice their emotions and steady their bodies, using breath, awareness, and connection with horses to return to calm.
Empathy
By integrating horsemanship into our programs, children build empathy as they connect with horses and become more aware of their own feelings and the experiences of others.
Comunication
Children strengthen communication by learning how their body language, focus, and intention affect a horse, practicing clear signals, listening, and responsive connection in real time.
Belief in Self
Children develop belief in self as they experience being capable, trusted, and successful through meaningful work with horses.
What Will Your Child Experience?
The Equellness Center offers children a calm, nature based environment where learning slows down and becomes embodied. Through horsemanship, riding, and outdoor exploration, children build mental fitness and essential life skills including empathy, communication, emotional regulation, collaboration, and belief in self, supported by the steady presence of horses.
