Volunteer Opportunities at Equellness Center
Join the Equellness Community!
Volunteering at Equellness is more than helping out. It is an invitation into relationship, presence, and community. Our volunteers play an essential role in creating a safe and compassionate environment where horses support growth, connection, and well being.
We offer a guided volunteer pathway that supports learning through experience, practice, and relationship, honoring each individual’s pace and strengths.

Equellness volunteers move through a five phase pathway designed to build connection, presence, and meaningful participation alongside horses and community.
#1 Volunteer Open House
Connection, Compassion, & Community
The Volunteer Open House is the first step in exploring life as a volunteer at Equellness. This welcoming experience offers a chance to meet our team, connect with our horses, explore the space, and learn about our philosophy and approach.
It is an opportunity to ask questions, share your interests, and get a feel for the many ways volunteers support our programs.
#2 New Volunteer Orientation
Foundations and Preparation
Orientation supports new volunteers in feeling prepared, supported, and connected. This step blends at home learning with in person, hands on practice.
Volunteers learn essential procedures, explore volunteer roles, review our guiding principles, and experience a gentle introduction to the herd, grounding knowledge in real world practice.
#3 New and Existing Volunteer Training
Skill Building in Practice
This training is designed for volunteers who are ready to deepen hands on skills and embodied awareness. Through guided practice, volunteers learn safe horse handling, equipment awareness, group movement, and how presence and rhythm support both people and horses.
The focus is on learning by doing, building confidence through relationship, not perfection.
#4 Volunteer Practice
Refinement and Belief In Self
Volunteer Practice offers space for repetition, refinement, and continued growth. Volunteers deepen core skills while developing awareness of how their own nervous system and presence influence the horse.
This step supports belief in self through steady practice, reflection, and supportive guidance.
#5 Volunteer Shadowing
Applied Learning in Real Sessions
Volunteer Shadowing bridges practice and participation. Volunteers observe and support real client sessions alongside staff and experienced volunteers, learning session flow, communication, and supportive roles.
This step honors readiness and growth, allowing volunteers to integrate skills in a real world context while contributing meaningfully to Equellness programs.
